Dealing with prejudice at work - a management training course
How can you deal with prejudice? It’s difficult, because you’re bound to be very upset by it. Here’s a strong but generous way of responding:
- Allow yourself to feel the upset – you can bear it, it won’t kill you.
- Respond with dignity, assertively but not aggressively, by pointing out as a matter of fact how the prejudice makes you feel.
- Try, if you can rise to this, to tune in with empathy to the fear behind the prejudice.
Assertiveness and empathy are powerfully influential responses. They’ll enable you to deal with very difficult situations at work, like encountering prejudice. You can learn and practise them on our highly acclaimed London UK management training course, “Skills with People”.
But how can you be sure this training in dealing with prejudice is for you?
