Criticising without getting into argument - a management training course
Here’s how to avoid being drawn into an argument when criticising someone. State your criticism frankly and clearly: “I’m not at all happy about all the mistakes you’ve made in this piece of work”. If what comes back is an excuse or an argument, instead of arguing back, say, “Now I feel even worse. You don’t seem to be taking me seriously.” In the unlikely event they carry on arguing, say, “Now I’m really worried about you. You seem to be refusing to give me the standard of work I need.”
You can learn and practise the art of being firmly assertive and of criticising without getting into argument on our highly acclaimed London UK management training course, “Skills with People”.
But how can you be sure this training in criticising without getting into argument is for you?
