Listening skills training for managers and professional people
The acid test of the quality of your listening is your effect on those you are listening to. How do you make them feel? How satisfied are they that you understand and respect their concern or their point of view, even though you may not agree with it?* Even though you may be very good at taking in what they are saying if you fail this test you are unlikely to win their confidence and cooperation. There are many people who pride themselves on being good listeners who would fail this test. If you want to discover whether you need to brush up your listening skills, why not try our emotional intelligence test.
Listening skills and listening with empathy are difficult. That’s why the London based "Skills with People" course pays them a great deal of attention.
But making others feel understood is only one half of being effective with people. The other half is getting yourself understood by them, and that’s why the Skills with People course is as much an assertiveness training course as it is a listening skills training course. It’s when you combine the two skills that you can achieve your maximum effectiveness with people.

* Showing that you understand someone’s point of view is not the same thing as agreeing with them. Understanding does not imply agreement.
